More Waterfalls
Waterfalls of the Cascades and Eastern Washington and Idaho
Recognizing my fascination for free-running water, I set out to find more streams and rivers during the 2015 Spring run-off season. The first seven images are near Colville in Eastern Washington at Douglas falls and at Crystal Falls. The Douglas Falls Grange Park has only a few campsites, but it's really nice. There are picnic areas and a ball field; probably it is very busy on the weekends. Crystals Falls are right next to the SR20 highway. There are small paths to climb down into the gorge also.
In May 2016 I continued this interest at Falls Creek in Okanogan County. The Falls Creek Campground is right at the creek, next to the Chewuch River. Hiking up the hillside there were a number of vantage points to see the various steps in the falls.
In September 2016 I hiked to the White River Falls north of Wenatchee Lake for three more days of photos. (The road to the nearby campground is washed out, but a replacement camping area 1 mile below is quite nice.) Then, in October 2017 and May 2018 I did Deception Falls, which are right next to US 2, a little West of Stevens Pass. More recently, February and June 2020, I explored the Entiat River area. A forest fire at Entiat blocked my return in August 2020, so I explored the extreme Northeast of Washington and the tip of Idaho.
I shot with the medium format camera using Kodak TriX 400, Rollei infrared and (expired) Konica 750 film, as noted in the captions. There are a few using the 4x5 view camera when the hiking distance is not too great.

North Fork of the Entiat River
The North Fork tumbles out of a deep gorge into the main river with nice cascades. I shot this with Rollei medium format i.r. film on an early June morning. It would exciting to devote a trip to working into the upstream canyon for more cascades.
