Cycles and Cinema
The Deeley Motorcycle Exhibition in Vancouver, B.C. has done it again with a knock-out show of famous motorcycles. "Cycles and Cinema" features replicas or similar models for great movies from the '50s to the present. The captions tell of the movie associations - how many can you guess?
This section of the web site features scans of B&W prints, as well as the digital color shots taken while setting up my lighting. I like both styles, but B&W, shot on film, means more to me. While the color photos are pretty, the B&W prints convey the mechanical magic of these motorcycles and the history associated with them.
It's a great show, and probably up for all of 2014. Consider a trip to Vancouver to see for yourself!

1951 Ariel Square Four
An earlier model much like this was used in the 1946 filming of "A Matter of Life and Death." This four cylinder 601 cc engine featured 8 overhead valves and a 4 speed transmission. In the "British Motorcycles" section of this web site I have a 1958 Square Four that allowed separate exhausts for each cylinder, which must have alleviated the overheating problem somewhat.
