National Motorcycle Museum
John Parham's vast collection of vintage motorcycles forms the core of the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa, Iowa. In addition, other collectors have loaned some of their bikes to the extensive show. My photos here represent just a few of the most interesting, all conveniently posed on viewing stands. The color versions are from the Nikon D850 and the B&W are from the Hasselblad with TriX film. Three to five battery flashes provided the lighting.
The captions are greatly condensed from the extensive signage at the museum, any errors are mine. The museum will close at the end of the 2023 season, so plan to visit soon.

1933 Ariel Square Four
Two parallel twins, one behind the other, with a single carburator powered this 600cc Ariel. The drive chain housing for the overhead cams is on this side. As you can imagine, overheating was a problem. Later models went to four exhausts and simpler push rod drives for the valves.
